The Principal Negotiator will play a crucial role in managing relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers and health plans, focusing on rebate contracting and strategic initiatives. This position involves consulting with health plans, developing strategies for drug portfolios, and ensuring effective negotiation and implementation of contracts. The role requires collaboration across various internal departments and the ability to navigate complex dynamics within the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Assist the Sr. Director of Pharma Strategy and Contracting in determining manufacturer, product class, and drug tactics.
  • Collaborate with Ascent Health Services on product class strategies with pharmaceutical manufacturers.
  • Manage Pharma relationships and develop strategic partnerships with targeted Pharma companies.
  • Interact with the Value Assessment Committee to develop product category strategies and rebate requests.
  • Consult with Cigna Health Plan, Prime Therapeutics, Centene, and large Custom Client formulary and rebate requests.
  • Assist Account Directors in finalizing manufacturer rebate agreements and matrices.
  • Support Sales and Account Management on RFPs and presentations with clients.
  • Represent the department and provide guidance for Custom Clients and assist Formulary Consultants.
  • Interact with cross-functional management teams as needed.
  • Bachelors Degree strongly preferred
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Registered Pharmacist (RPh or PharmD) and/or MBA preferred
  • Strong financial acumen with an understanding of supply chain dynamics
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate well with teams
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid negotiation skills with the ability to influence and persuade
  • Adaptable with the ability to navigate complex dynamics
  • Honest, direct and transparent communication style
  • Self-starter who can work well independently and with a team
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry
