About The Position

Prototype Painter to prep, paint and seal car and truck bodies, sheet metal and plastic parts. Able to correct minor surface imperfections as part of the preparation process.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Prep and Painting in Auto Bodies.
  • Responsible for the preparation of a variety of surfaces for paint application such as sheet metal and various types of plastic.
  • Responsible for the proper mixing of paints with appropriate catalysts and reducers required and the proper maintenance of spray-painting equipment.
  • Responsible for painting will include but are not limited to production sheet metal bodies, various sheet metal parts, and interior parts, all the way to painting show cars.
  • Create colors from formulae and tint colors to match a car or paint sample.
  • Smooth surfaces of models, mockup properties using plastic surfacing resins and other suitable materials.
  • Work from drawings and/or from verbal instructions.
  • Use mechanical sanding equipment to produce show-quality surfaces.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces such as metal, various plastics, wood and or clay for painting.
  • Perform all the steps required to paint a Body in White (BIW) as per the present shop process.
