SUMMARY The Prototype Coordinator / Analyst, will work closely with engineering and production to ensure prototypes are created in an efficient and timely manner. Will help determine final product specs based on fabrication costs, production issues, quality, and design requirements. Make sure all required parts are ordered correctly and arrive on time. The PT Coordinator will operate and maintain the Engineering Prototype Shop ensuring that the shop is kept clean, organized, operational, and safe.

Requirements

  • Must possess good communications skills and be comfortable dealing with diverse groups and individuals throughout the organization.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of computers including MS Suite.
  • Able to use measurement tools, operate shop equipment, interpret and perform welding operations.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds, walk the shop floor, walk up and down stairs
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Nice To Haves

  • ERP (ie SAP) experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes a plus.
  • Technical Certificate or Associates Degree preferred (welding, machining, fabrication, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Use SAP to determine materials needed, create sales orders, and prototype production orders.
  • Plan, coordinate, and build working prototypes based on design specifications.
  • Distribute prototype production orders, perform final fabrication, and coordinate multi-department processes to ensure prototypes are completed on-time
  • Interpret and mark-up engineering drawings so design team can make improvements prior to mass production of new products.
  • Break down components into raw materials using SAP
  • Communicate production issues and timeline of completion with sales and engineering
  • Will be responsible for final inspection and packaging of prototypes. This includes checking physical dimensions against the detailed drawings (component form, fit, function) paint quality, weld quality, and making sure final packaging is done properly to help ensure the product is not damaged in transit
  • Light fabrication and touch-up of prototypes to include drilling, grinding, welding (mig and resistance), sanding, and touch-up painting.
  • Assist engineers in product assembly, testing, and load testing when needed.
  • Maintain a clean and functional prototype shop including equipment maintenance and materials inventory.
  • Observe and enforce Madix safety policies and procedures at all times
  • Occasional travel if needed.
