About The Position

We are seeking a Protein Characterization Specialist to support analytical development and bioprocess characterization efforts for protein-based therapeutics. This role requires hands-on expertise in protein chemistry, chromatography, and analytical instrumentation to generate high-quality data supporting early-phase clinical development.

Requirements

  • BS in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 2-3 years of relevant experience, or MS with 1-2 years.
  • Strong hands-on experience with HPLC/UPLC, Octet, SDS-PAGE, ELISA, and protein purification techniques.
  • Familiarity with Empower and/or ChemStation is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate reproducible data and follow established protocols in a regulated lab environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
  • Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Perform protein characterization using a variety of analytical techniques including UPLC/HPLC (SEC, HIC, IEX, Affinity), Octet, SDS-PAGE, and ELISA.
  • Support protein purification and chromatography at the lab scale to evaluate process intermediates and final products.
  • Apply a strong understanding of separation sciences and spectroscopic techniques to monitor and optimize protein purification processes.
  • Utilize software such as Empower and/or ChemStation for instrument control and data analysis.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation in electronic lab notebooks (ELNs) and databases in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver high-quality analytical data in support of product development and process optimization.
  • Lead or assist in the calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and coordinate with vendors as needed.
