About The Position

Provides high quality customer service and protection to visitors and employees in the MARTA Headquarters Building by controlling all access to the building. Protects Authority assets through continuous surveillance of the building and identification of potential fire, safety or crime hazards. Employees filling this position are armed with approved, non-lethal weapons.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Two years of security, law enforcement or related experience, preferably within a security or property management environment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
  • Must successfully complete assigned training, including use of OC Pepper Spray, the ASP baton, handcuffs, first aid, and CPR.
  • Must pass a physical examination, including a drug and alcohol screen.
  • Must pass a background investigation identical to MARTA Police Officers. A polygraph and psychological test will be required.
  • Must possess a valid government-issued identification.
  • PROTECTIVE SPECIALIST - FIELD OPERATIONS In addition to the requirements stated above, must also successfully complete two weeks of training prior to deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Controls access to the MARTA headquarters building serving as the first point of contact for persons entering or visiting. Reports and escalates any unusual circumstance or hazard to the appropriate personnel.
  • Provides surveillance of the loading dock area, the building interior and exterior, and the adjacent parking deck to prevent entry by unauthorized persons, theft, and other unauthorized activities.
  • Allows building access to cleaning staff and other contractors during various hours making certain appropriate entry identification is checked.
  • Monitors building to identify and report potential fire, safety, or crime hazards.
  • Provides proper emergency notification and secures appropriate assistance when needed. Renders first aid and other emergency assistance as required.
  • Makes certain all building alarm panels and video equipment are operational, reporting any malfunction to the appropriate maintenance personnel.
  • Prepares detailed written reports describing any unusual incident that occurs in the building.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned, including Transit Ambassador assignments.
