About The Position

The Security Officer at Nationwide Children’s Hospital is responsible for patrolling, monitoring, and securing assigned areas, patients, visitors, and employees to ensure safety and security. The position requires performing random and frequent patrols, intervening in conflicts, conducting investigations, and responding to emergencies. The officer will also assist with staff and visitor escorts, enforce parking policies, and maintain documentation of daily activities.

Requirements

• High School diploma required.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
• Pass motor vehicle background inspection and maintain insurance qualifications.
• Ability to read and comprehend hospital policies and procedures.
• Ability to conduct preliminary investigations and document findings.
• Sufficient interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all persons.
• Ability to write legibly.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in security or law enforcement.
• Completion of IAHSS Basic Security Officer training.

Responsibilities

• Perform random and frequent patrols in designated areas on foot, motor vehicle, or bicycle.
• Monitor security cameras.
• Intervene in interpersonal conflicts or criminal acts to maintain order.
• Conduct preliminary investigations and report incidents.
• Maintain accurate documentation of daily activities and incidents.
• Respond to and provide assistance in emergency situations.
• Perform staff and visitor escorts or transportation.
• Enforce hospital parking policies and procedures.
• Respond safely and effectively to all related matters.
