About The Position
The Protection Officer at Riverside Doctors' Hospital in Williamsburg, Virginia, plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of the facility, its personnel, and its visitors. Under the supervision of the Protection Manager/Supervisor, the officer is responsible for protecting the facility from property loss and criminal activity. This position requires a proactive approach to security, adhering to established policies and procedures while responding to various situations that may arise within the hospital environment. The Protection Officer is expected to maintain a safe atmosphere for employees, patients, and visitors, aligning with the values and expectations of Riverside Health System. In this role, the Protection Officer must demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing work assignments and emergency circumstances. Key responsibilities include monitoring fire, intrusion, duress, and security alarm systems, as well as maintaining a working knowledge of various security technologies such as infant security alarms, access control systems, and video surveillance. The officer will also be involved in patrolling the campus, writing incident reports, and ensuring that all security equipment in their assigned vehicle is maintained and operational. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as the Protection Officer will work closely with new employees and co-workers to enhance retention and reduce turnover. The officer is also responsible for maintaining positive public relations with the community, escorting individuals as needed, and assisting with visitor management and credentialing. The role requires a commitment to safety practices, including reporting any accidents or safety concerns and participating in training to stay current on safety issues and procedures.
