About the position
The Protection and Control (P&C) Engineer position at Florida Power & Light Company involves applying engineering principles to ensure the quality and reliability of P&C equipment. The role focuses on developing processes and procedures to meet reliability metrics, managing P&C projects, conducting root cause investigations for component failures, and providing training and technical support to junior engineers and field operations leads. This position is integral to enhancing the operational efficiency and reliability of power delivery systems.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and ensure P&C equipment quality and reliability.
- Develop Protection and Control processes, procedures, and programs to meet or exceed annual Business Unit Reliability Metrics.
- Work on small to large scale conventional P&C projects with somewhat complex features.
- Perform P&C component failure root cause investigations and develop countermeasures and plans to prevent additional failures.
- Develop, interpret, and advise on standards, and provide training to Junior Engineers.
- Provide technical support to Field Operations Leads and Construction Leads.
- Engage in industry and professional organizations, and monitor new and emerging technologies, innovations, and trends.
- Provide engineering, design and environmental support.
- Track and report on project negotiations and performance.
- Deliver company standards, policies, training, and support of organization.
- Prepare communications, presentations and provide support at meetings.
- Formulate, research, and develop improvement measures.
- Work with other departments to establish customer requirements and project costs.
Requirements
- Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- 3+ years of experience in the utility industry with Protection & Control experience.

- Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
