About The Position

Siemens Smart Infrastructure is looking for interns for our Electrification and Automation division in Wendell, NC to support our portfolio of protection and automation products and solutions. A variety of opportunities are available across the business supporting project design tasks, operations, product development, special projects and process improvements. We are seeking qualified candidates for our Protection & Automation Electrical Engineering Summer - Fall Internship beginning in May 2026. This program is based in Wendell, NC.

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor’s or master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Candidates must not graduate prior to December 2026.
  • Available to work 40 hours per week during Summer 2026, transitioning to part-time work during the Fall 2026 term.
  • Preference for candidates available to continue part-time work into Spring 2027 or graduating in December 2026.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
  • Eligible candidates must be located within 50 miles of Wendell, NC.

Responsibilities

  • Rotate through PPA teams such as Solutions Engineering, Solutions Offers, Customer Solutions & Innovations (CSI), and Global Customer Care (GCC).
  • Assist with configuring protective relays, RTUs, and HMIs, support system testing and troubleshooting.
  • Gain practical experience with AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, communication diagrams, and logic diagrams.
  • Learn how technical scope is translated into engineering hours, costs, and customer proposals.
  • Help standardize solutions and prepare customer-ready designs for execution.
  • Support projects after delivery, including warranty, issue resolution, and customer case management.
  • Assist with and complete development work on protection and automation projects.
  • Learn how to configure and test Siemens' comprehensive energy automation systems.
  • Support engineering design process by working with schematic drawings and communication network diagrams.
  • Use digital twin technology to simulate and test protection relay signals.
  • Contribute to projects such as Microgrids and renewable technologies.
  • Gain hands-on experience with Siemens electrical equipment.
  • Accompany senior engineers to customer sites for on-site experiences.

Benefits

  • Hourly pay range of $25.00 - $30.00 per hour.
