About The Position

The Prospect Researcher & Database Manager supports the Philanthropy team by ensuring the integrity and effective use of the donor database. This position involves managing the philanthropy database, overseeing prospect research, and maintaining and providing information to the Philanthropy team to help maintain relationships with individual and corporate prospects, as well as foundations. The role is responsible for providing accurate data, generating reports, conducting in-depth research, and offering administrative support to enhance the organization’s fundraising efforts. The ideal candidate is analytical, strategic, highly organized, and collaborative, with a strong understanding of moves management, donor lifecycle strategy, and advancement services best practices. Proficiency in Raiser's Edge (or similar CRM) as well as professional membership and engagement in the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA) are preferred qualifications for this role. At Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri, most of our roles work in a hybrid capacity (in office, remote, and/or in the field). The current schedule expectation for this role is 3 days in office and 2 days working remote each week (subject to change at management discretion or operational need). Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support fundraising events or deadlines. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience required.
  • Two (2) years of database management experience.
  • Understanding of basic data quality principles and practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, donor databases, and other general office equipment.
  • Organized thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Good process management and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to establish rapport with others at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic organization.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time operating a computer, including navigating websites, software platforms, spreadsheets and both electronic and paper documents.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copier, and computer printer.
  • Occasionally positions self to maintain files in file cabinets.
  • May need to move boxes weighing up to 25 pounds across office for various needs.
  • The ability to observe details at close range and at a distance.
  • Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the philanthropy database, ensuring that data held is accurate, up-to-date, and properly coded.
  • Prepare and send timely correspondence to acknowledge donations and mail tax acknowledgment letters.
  • Implement data integrity checks and procedures to maintain a clean and reliable database and troubleshoot and resolve database issues in collaboration with IT or external support as needed.
  • Generate and distribute weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports and track progress towards goals.
  • Analyze data trends and provide insight with strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Conduct in-depth prospect research on corporations, foundations, and individual major gift prospects, and prepare high quality profiles and briefings on prospects for the Philanthropy team to inform solicitation strategies.
  • Address inquiries from the Finance team regarding gift restrictions and reconcile data with Finance records.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to align data and reporting for accurate financial oversight.
  • Provide lists and segmentation criteria for physical mailings and emails to donor groups based on specific and dynamic criteria; work with colleagues to define parameters for communications.
  • Design and develop advanced database systems and workflows in relation to the Philanthropy team needs.
  • Provide wide-ranging administrative support as needed.
  • Serve as a collaborative team member, working to advance the mission of Girl Scouts.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
