About The Position

The Prospect Research Specialist supports the Development Team by creating and leading the team’s prospect research annual strategy. This position identifies funding sources in all areas of Development including Individual Giving, Membership, Grants, and Corporate Sponsorship. The primary responsibilities include researching and identifying prospective major funders and club members, managing the use of third-party wealth screening tools, sharing detailed profile reports with relationship managers, and developing and managing the team’s annual relationship cultivation strategy. This position earns between $76,627 and $102,190 annualized (midpoint $85,155) It is not our practice to hire at the top of the range. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 2 years of experience as a prospect researcher with a proven record of accomplishment in managing a robust leads portfolio
  • Experience in project management and the ability to set and meet deadlines and manage numerous complex projects simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; be comfortable presenting ideas and reports to colleagues from Development to Leadership Team Members
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills`
  • Experience handling confidential information in alignment with Apra’s Principles of Ethics and Compliance
  • Proficiency with various programs for supporting day to day tasks, including MS Office, Salesforce or similar CRMs, and third-party wealth screening tools
  • Detail oriented, organized, problem solver who remains calm during stressful situations and meets deadlines
  • A self-starter and creative collaborator; prepared to think outside the box and don’t be afraid to work through problems as a team or independently
  • Able to pivot and support changing needs of the team and organization

Responsibilities

  • Research, identify, and prioritize major funder and club member prospects for STG’s Development Team utilizing various sources to analyze and synthesize information.
  • Use critical thinking and analytical skills when selecting research methods.
  • Conduct research on individuals, corporations, and foundations using a wide variety of sources including online database services, websites, library and governmental services, and other repositories of public information.
  • Compose informative reports (profiles, biographies, project summaries) tailored to specific projects.
  • Present newly identified prospects to appropriate colleagues on the Development Team.
  • Update STG’s CRM Accounts with newly found research.
  • Implement a moves management system within current CRM (Salesforce) after collaborating with Individual Giving Manager, Communications & Data Manager, and Data Specialist, to design the system.
  • Serve as Development Team lead on choosing and maintaining a third-party wealth screening tool.
  • Collaborate with the Development Team’s Communications & Data Manager and STG’s Data Specialist on ensuring good data sharing practices when data enters STG’s CRM from various platforms (Ticketmaster, FormAssembly, etc.).
  • Act as a key member in major donor gift initiatives, including but not limited to, supporting audience development for STG's Annual Fundraiser, capital projects, annual fund renewals, and planned giving by sharing in-depth analysis on current and prospective individual or group supporters.
  • Design and provide analytic reporting on prospects, relevant industry philanthropic trends, and annual Development Team fundraising efforts.
  • Participate in STG’s Salesforce Power User Group.
  • Remain knowledgeable on system features and updates.
  • Communicate system/process changes to users.
  • Develop and document local data entry procedures and organization guidelines for relevant database entry and maintenance.
  • Maintain system confidentiality, security, and approved user access only in STG’s CRM.
  • Support additional projects as needed. For example, research requests related to new strategic partnerships, marketing, artistic programming, etc.
  • Follow and support all STG policies and procedures.
  • Engage with building a culture of philanthropy at STG.
  • Support STG’s internal staff and organization culture efforts.
  • This position may require the ability to work a variable schedule to meet the team or organization’s needs.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed, with the flexibility to take on new roles or responsibilities as the company evolves.
