And when we watch our satellites launch, we know each one of us made it happen. The Propulsion Technician’s main responsibility is to execute orbital‑tube welding for satellite propulsion systems. In addition, the technician will be tasked carry out various fabrication, integration, and testing tasks for space‑flight hardware and related support equipment. The role requires the ability to work first shift. This position's internal job code is Propulsion Subsystem Manuf Tech Senior. Our team is currently hiring for Grade 24. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in propulsion assembly on high reliability products (preferably aerospace products)
  • Minimum 1 year experience of orbital tube welding
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to interpret drawing, schematics, harness wiring diagrams, internal and external specifications
  • Experience using inspection tooling (e.g. calipers, micrometers, DMM, depth gauges, etc.)
  • Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to lift-up to 35 lbs
  • Experience with heater, thermistor installations
  • Experience with using various hand tools and power tools
  • Experience mixing epoxy materials
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • Applicants MUST be U.S. citizens and eligible for a security clearance.
  • Additionally, applicants must be willing to apply for and maintain a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of Aerospace experience
  • 5+ years of orbital tube welding experience
  • 2+ years performing thermal system component installation in aerospace
  • 2+ years of harness assembly and routing

Responsibilities

  • Perform Orbital tube welding for the fabrication of tube subassemblies and final propulsion tank closeouts
  • Assemble, install, test, route/terminate/stake/wrap thermistors, heaters, non‐flight thermocouples and heaters on spacecraft assemblies by interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings and specifications, and written assembly, integration, and test procedures
  • Visually inspect propulsion assemblies to drawings, engineering specifications, and written assembly, and test procedure
  • Operate various materials handling equipment including forklifts, overheads cranes, aerial lift equipment, flight vehicle and sub-assembly transportation equipment, truck/tractor trailer combinations and other GSE as required
  • Travel maybe required to support operations identified by program being supported
  • Capable of operating a wide range of tools. Including but not limited to, orbital tube welding machines, tack welding machines, drill press, grinders, power and hand tools
  • Interface and /or works closely with Design and Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, Procurement and Shipping personnel on procedural issuers involving design, methods, tooling, cost, and other areas involved in the control of product quality
  • Support in areas defined by Millennium Space System Leadership as business needs require
  • Crosstrain / mentor new hires
