About The Position

Mach Industries is searching for an aerodynamics-thermodynamics analyst/designer to analyze the rotating and stationary components in the engine and guide solutions. The components under investigation include compressor and turbine rotors, stationary diffusers, nozzle vanes and flow paths. The analyst will own the components under investigation and be responsible for guidance on capability and improvement. They will work daily with structural and mechanical designers to develop these critical components at a rapid pace. Their components will be manufactured and tested in weeks rather than years. They will have a hand in the design, manufacturing and testing. We are on a mission to deliver high-performance small turbine engines on a significant level by rethinking the fundamentals to enable high-rate, scalable manufacturing. This is an opportunity to shape the future of propulsion from the ground up, and it takes the best people to make that happen. We are looking for those who thrive in diverse, fast-paced, high-expectation environments and are driven to build what’s never been built before.

Requirements

  • BS in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a professional environment.
  • Fundamental knowledge in turbo-machinery design, aerodynamics and thermodynamics.
  • Proficiency with 3D Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient with meanline analysis tools (SoftInWay – AXSTREAM, Concepts NREC –COMPAL, etc).
  • Proficient with Python.
  • Developed compression and/or turbine system maps.
  • Understanding of basic manufacturing process and tolerancing of aerodynamic components.
  • Experience with Cadence (NUMECA) CFD software suite (Autoblade/Autogrid/FineTurbo).
  • Proficiency in NX/Teamcenter for product design and engineering.
  • Builder mentality, you are driven to create and improve not just maintain the status quo.
  • Independent, flexible and well-spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Aerodynamically and thermodynamically design and analyze rotating and stationary components.
  • Develop tools/workflows in simulation software for speeding up repetitive tasks.
  • Create analytical tools to perform basic analysis.
  • Work with structural and mechanical designers and manufacturing to develop the ultimate component.
  • Guide the drawing requirements for the component’s tolerance.
  • Form test procedures for determining performance of components.
  • Communicate structural results and structural knowledge to the team.
