In this role you will support the engineering team by performing preliminary and detailed level electric propulsion component and system design, development, and integration for flight as well as ground systems. Your duties will include responsibility for the design, manufacture, procurement and test for the Electric Propulsion system components and assemblies. This job requires coordinating with customers, suppliers, test facilities, and other related fields including manufacturing, subcontracts, quality, structure design, analysis, systems engineering, and integration with affected subsystems and facilities. Other duties may include, Support Subsystem Integration Assist on the conceptual development, requirements definition, and design of electric propulsion components Perform trade studies to select the appropriate design solution Develop product performance specifications, statements of work, and supplier data requirements for components Maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and technical analyses to support systems and components Provide requirements flow-down, verification, and maintain technical baseline at the suppliers Ability to work on a multi-disciplined team performing structural design trades, detailed design/analysis activity and performance and maintenance assessments of operational systems. Support dynamic test definitions, requirements development, test monitoring, data reduction, and comparison to analysis efforts. Provide user documentation and recommendations to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, present analysis data to engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical interchange meetings and design review. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience/combined education
  • Experience or knowledge with 1st order propulsion principals and/or fluid dynamics or heat transfer.
  • Knowledge of mechanical CAD modeling and drafting
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Propulsion system integration
  • Hands on Electric Propulsion hardware experience
  • User of CREO CAD software
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent fields (systems engineering, electronics, stress/thermal analysis, configuration management, production, test, quality…)
  • Knowledge of Requirement development and management
  • Knowledge of Electric Propulsion Power systems
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Desire and ability to own technical challenges through solution
