Leidos is looking for a Propulsion Engineer, providing research, development, and production engineering support within the Propulsion Division, DEVCOM Armaments Center, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ. Work is performed primarily in an office setting, with numerous visits to project sites 25 - 50% of the time. The role involves executing, overseeing, and evaluating varying development, production, and test activities, ensuring continued production quality, assessing issues, and conducting root cause analyses when necessary. The engineer will develop corrective action plans, design and execute test plans, and analyze and report results. Regular travel is required to support recurring test and evaluation activities to verify quality and performance. The engineer must understand and interpret technical data packages of munition systems and propulsion components to ensure conformance to technical and performance requirements. Collaboration across interdisciplinary product teams is essential to ensure understanding and execution of production and development contracts regarding performance, cost, and schedule. The role also involves integrating statistical analysis, modeling, and simulation tools to assess different production and performance challenges, and regularly interacting with project officers, installation/plant officials, contractors, architects, technicians, and engineers on technical, programmatic, and contractual topics. Documentation and reporting of technical information and data to senior level engineers and other officials from related organizations is also a key responsibility. The work may require considerable walking, stooping, bending, lifting, and climbing, and may involve working around hot, noisy operating equipment, necessitating the wearing of personal protection equipment (PPE).
