About The Position

Avison Young, a commercial real estate company, is seeking a Proposal and Business Development Writer for its client, American Realty Advisors (ARA), to support ARA's portfolio management and investor relations teams. As an Avison Young employee, this position will be based out of ARA's Los Angeles office and work exclusively on ARA's account, including the collection, writing, editing, and maintaining qualitative and quantitative information in order to respond to client, consultant and other requests for information on the firm. ARA is one of the largest privately held private equity institutional real estate investment managers in the United States, with over $11.0 billion in assets under management as of March 31, 2025. ARA invests on behalf of institutional investors through core and value-add real estate funds and separate accounts, targeting industrial, residential, retail, office and select other asset types nationwide through direct equity, hybrid debt, mezzanine, and preferred equity structures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, emphasis in journalism, English, marketing, communications, or political science preferred.
  • A minimum of three to five years of direct experience leading, writing, editing and preparing RFPs, preferably at an investment management or financial services firm.
  • Familiarity with, or understanding of, real estate investment management is a plus.
  • Effective communication, writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and software utilized in the organization (i.e. Salesforce, Tableau), and familiarity with proposal automation software.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple action items at once and to work independently as well as collaboratively, both within the portfolio management team and throughout the organization.
  • Strong project management and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Understand ARA's goals, the institutional investment management environment, and institutional real estate products, as well as competitive real estate investment strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to and track RFPs, RFIs, DDQs and ad hoc requests received from consultants, existing clients and potential new clients to ensure timely, complete and accurate written and quantitative responses.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of ARA's products and investment strategies and work closely with subject matter experts across the organization to prepare industry leading, concise and accurate qualitative and quantitative content.
  • Assist in updating consultant databases with ARA and product information quarterly or on an as-needed basis.
  • Create and maintain accurate and persuasive qualitative content regarding ARA's product differentiators, firm and process advantages, investment rationale, and strategies to support the capital-raising efforts of ARA's investor relations, sales and marketing, and portfolio management teams.
  • Deliver reports under strict deadlines, balancing the need for speed and efficiency with quality analysis and crisp writing that enhances ARA's institutional brand.
