About The Position

At Quartermaster AI, we leverage cutting-edge AI and robotics technology to enhance maritime domain awareness. Our mission is to become the eyes, ears, and brain of the ocean by enabling every vessel to collaboratively sense, compute, and communicate. Role Overview We are looking for a highly adaptable Proposal Writer to support our early-stage capture efforts — writing proposals, SBIR/OTA submissions, white papers, and technical briefs — to help us secure contracts and grow. This role requires someone comfortable juggling multiple responsibilities, with hands-on writing, coordination, and business-development support.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years experience in technical or government-related proposal writing or business development — ideally in a startup or technology environment.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and narrative development skills. Comfort learning technical sensor, data, or engineering concepts quickly.
  • Strong organizational and project management ability, comfortable with ambiguity and fast-paced work.
  • Flexibility to wear multiple hats — writing, coordination, capture support, business-development tasks.
  • Self-starter mentality: comfortable working autonomously, making decisions, and operating with limited process or guidance.

Nice To Haves

  • A creative, self-motivated storyteller with technical curiosity, comfortable in a lean, fast-moving startup environment — ready to help a young company win its first government and commercial contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare proposals for emerging solicitations to USG, to include SBIR/OTAs, and commercial opportunities.
  • Convert technical documentation (sensor specs, cloud architecture, deployment logistics) into clear, persuasive proposals.
  • Work directly with growth, engineering, and operations to collect content and shape solution narratives.
  • Manage proposal timelines, content development, compliance checks, and submission logistics.
  • Build and maintain a reusable proposal content library, boilerplate language, and past-performance summaries (as company history grows).
  • Assist with capture planning, early-stage bid strategy, and customer-facing materials (capability statements, one-pagers, slide decks).

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Flexible work hours and the option for remote work.
  • Opportunities for professional development and continued education.
