Proposal Manager - Technical Sales
About The Position
Broetje Automation is the world’s leading expert & OEM in aircraft manufacturing automation and robotics, working with the top names in our industry. Worldwide locations include: Germany, USA, France, United Kingdom, China, and Japan. US locations include: Charleston (SC), Savannah (GA), Wichita (KS), Mobile, (AL) and Seattle (WA). Summary: The Proposal Manager reports directly to the CEO, leading North American sales and supporting the BA-US sales team. This position leads the development of technical and commercial proposals for Broetje’s automated manufacturing solutions, pricing estimations, commercial documents, technical proposals, etc.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering discipline (i.e., mechanical, manufacturing, or electrical engineering)
- 7+ years working in customer or semi-customer facing role – ideal candidate will have work experience in Aerospace industry
- Related experience may include work in one or more of the following areas: Automated systems such as machine tools, robotic cells or assembly fixtures, jigs, tools Manufacturing applications with thermoset or thermoplastic composite materials Factory assembly or machine manufacturing
- Ability to evaluate complex technical requirements and shape solutions that align with customer business objectives
- Experience creating and presenting sales proposals
- Strong sales ability, business acumen, and commercial awareness.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple proposals simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Personable and outgoing; comfortable speaking in front of groups of people
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Candidate must be willing to travel up to 30% and have an active US passport
Responsibilities
- Work with forward-facing sales personnel at Broetje to understand customer needs and generate proposals in order to achieve North American sales targets
- Lead end-to-end proposal strategy, including technical scope definition, pricing development, risk assessment, and commercial positioning
- Work with all relevant departments (engineering, project management, assembly, etc.) to develop solutions to customer needs.
- Become technically proficient in current and future product offerings (i.e., automated drilling and fastening equipment, composites manufacturing, etc.)
- Qualify potential customers for genuine need and ability to purchase proposed solutions
- Work with customers throughout entirety of sales process
- Lead in development of sales proposals
- Travel to customer sites as needed for sales and proposal meetings and to ensure we are providing world class customer service
- Research and identify potential future markets for existing and new Broetje products
- Identify possible derivative products and solutions to help expand our current offerings
