About The Position

The Proposal Engineer is responsible for supporting the Sales and Engineering Departments. Coordinate proposal activities in conformance with customer needs create initial budget, preliminary Bill of Materials and Work Statement within company guidelines.

Requirements

  • Position requires completion of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering field for job proficiency and 8 years related experience.
  • Requires demonstrated experience in any of the following: 1) design or manufacture of aircraft interiors, 2) design or manufacture of aircraft modifications, 3) design or manufacture of aircraft products such as Galleys, Lavatories, Partitions, Class Dividers, PSU’s, Stowbins, IFE Systems etc. and 4) design of manufacture of seat products.
  • Must display Advance skills in MS Office products and have the ability to learn other company software including Smarteam, Epicor and Industrios.
  • Moderate travel within the U.S. and abroad may be required to support JAMCO America programs.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such a stately rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers of employees of organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must demonstrate concern and take actions to meet requirements and high standards of quality of both internal and external customers. Must display courtesy and sensitivity. Manage difficult situations. Meet commitments. Respond promptly to customer needs. Solicit customer feedback to improve service.

Nice To Haves

  • It is desirable, but not required, that candidates have experience in quoting and estimating recurring engineering hours required to complete engineering assignments.
  • Other desirable experience includes: knowledge of FAA and EASA aircraft and component level certification requirements and technical publications.

Responsibilities

  • Support Sales and Engineering departments by evaluating customer requests for various Jamco America revenue streams, Aircraft Modifications, OEM Products, Certification Services and Seats Products.
  • Evaluate customer needs, create initial budget, preliminary Bill of Materials and Work statement for basis of Commercial Proposal and Engineering work statement.
  • Define recurring kit cost budget, preliminary schedule and required travel requirements.
  • Support and coordinate with various departments within Jamco America including Mechanical and Electrical Engineering groups, Stress, Mechanical Systems, Certification, Flammability Testing and Technical Publications groups to develop, negotiate and finalize program budgets for each department.
  • Attend/participate in weekly status meetings with the sales and marketing team as well as Program Management team.
  • Develop and maintain the department database.
