About The Position

Zurich North America is hiring a Large Property Underwriter (Level I or II) to join our Large Property team in our New York office! While this role requires you to work out of our New York office, you will have the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis. You will partner with your manager to set a flexible work schedule that supports you, our customers, and our brokers and agents. This role will require you to be visible in the marketplace to meet with our agents and brokers and be in the office/market three days per week, with one of those days being Monday. In this role you will handle new and renewal Property business. As a member of Zurich's Large Property Underwriting Team, you will be responsible for maintaining and growing a book of Domestic and Global Property business. This is an exciting time to join the Large Property Team at Zurich! This role will require approximately 15% travel nationally. As a member of Zurich's Underwriting team, you will enjoy the opportunity to fully apply and hone your underwriting and marketing skills. Specifically, you will underwrite and analyze new and renewal Large Property business utilizing the Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within delegated authority levels on assignments of higher technical complexity ensuring a high-level service to customers.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 or more years of experience in the Insurance or Market Facing area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND Knowledge of Microsoft Office Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business Experience working in a team environment

• Demonstrating strong analytical skills and executing as an innovative advisor
• Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules
• Developing and maintaining agency and broker relationships
