Property Tax Summer College Intern
About The Position
The Tax team at NextEra Energy is responsible for supplying information to support the compliance, planning and forecast functions of the property tax organization. The team focuses on ensuring accurate, complete and timely information is provided and readily available to support the company's compliance and strategic goals. The effective use of technology, products, data management, and analytics is key to the success of the fixed asset team. On a day-to-day basis we are involved in meeting business needs by providing detailed fixed asset information from both a historic and forecast view. We are looking for a dynamic intern with an interest in finance and working in a capital-intensive environment. The individual must have the ability to understand business requirements and translate those into delivering solutions that meet the business needs. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and have a continuous improvement mindset with a natural drive to take ownership of the deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Work with Tax team that delivers beyond management expectations
- Collaborate with team on deliverables and management directives
- Maintain and monitor assigned property tax assignments including but not limited to filing property tax returns, forecasting, creating and updating financial models, and supporting ongoing process improvement initiatives
- Provide reports and analysis as needed for compliance, treasury, and tax planning needs
- Develop a technical expertise for valuing renewable energy projects
- Identify and implement improvements to existing processes through use of technology and innovation
- Quickly establish priorities and meet all assigned deadlines
- Work cross functionally with other departments to provide relevant property tax information including, Accounting, Business Management, Development, and Treasury
- Effective communication within tax organization to ensure efficient process for meeting business requirements
