About The Position

Kin is expanding the ways we help homeowners take control of the financial side of homeownership. Property taxes are one of the largest and least understood expenses homeowners face, and many miss opportunities to challenge inaccurate property assessments. We’re building solutions designed to help homeowners better understand and navigate the property tax appeals process. To support this effort, we’re seeking a Property Tax Appeals Consultant to bring deep subject matter expertise to our Product team and support our customers as we develop this capability. In this role, you will help us translate the complexities of the Texas or Georgia property tax system—including regulatory requirements, county-level processes, and filing procedures—into practical insights and savings opportunities for our customers.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience working within the Texas or Georgia property tax protest and appeals process, including preparing filings and understanding how protests move through appraisal districts and review boards.
  • Strong familiarity with county-specific procedures, timelines, and filing requirements, particularly across major Texas counties.
  • Experience participating in or advising on property tax protest filings and appraisal review board hearings.
  • The ability to translate complex regulatory frameworks into clear, practical guidance for cross-functional teams, including product, operations, and technology partners and for customers
  • A mindset that balances innovation with compliance, helping us find better ways to support homeowners while staying aligned with regulatory requirements.
  • Comfort working with early-stage initiatives where processes, tools, and products are still evolving.
  • Senior Property Tax Consultant License.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct informal appraisals, examining and evaluating residential and commercial properties, to establish market values
  • Advise on Texas property tax protest regulations and compliance considerations relevant to developing a homeowner-facing solution.
  • Provide insight into county appraisal district practices and procedural differences across major state counties
  • Explain protest submission workflows, including required documentation, filing timelines, and submission methods used across counties.
  • Share expertise on hearing preparation and protest strategy, including common expectations and best practices.
  • Help identify operational requirements and potential risks associated with launching a property tax protest support product.
  • Act as a trusted advisor during product design discussions, ensuring regulatory accuracy and operational feasibility.
