About The Position

This is maintenance and personal services work responsible for the inspection, repair, and overall maintenance of Department owned water access sites. The position is based within the Engineering Division and will work out of the Department’s Governor Hill engineering shop in Augusta. Responsibilities include conducting field inspections of infrastructure and property lines and carrying out repair and maintenance projects. Employee performs and coordinates general repair and maintenance of infrastructure including (but not limited to) roads, signage, kiosks, and parking areas, property line inspection and reporting work as needed. Work is performed under limited supervision, including occasional overnight work, performed outside in all weather conditions, statewide.

Requirements

  • Intermediate education, training, and/or experience in outdoor property maintenance, construction, or another closely related activity demonstrating competency in interacting with the public in a group setting and coordinating maintenance and repairs operations.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the maintenance and repair of water access facility infrastructure to ensure operations and maintenance needs are met and to ensure public safety and enjoyment of facilities.
  • Inspect and mark property lines, assess condition of ramps, access ways, floats, parking lots, and other structures to determine maintenance needs and to ensure compliance with applicable safety and maintenance standards and Department policies and rules.
  • Perform carpentry, excavation, landscaping, and other maintenance tasks to construct and repair structures and support facilities.
  • Generate reports of work performed and related data to document activities and provide information.
  • Work with landowners and surveyors to resolve property line issues.
  • Develop and implement strategies to facilitate boundary line maintenance and resolve encroachment issues effectively.
  • Use computer systems such as hardware, software applications, various GIS systems and emerging technology to record, process, and report data.
  • Perform routine upkeep, repair, and maintenance of various vehicles, equipment, and gear.
  • Obtain a class A CDL within the first 3 years of employment.
