About The Position

The Property Management Accountant will oversee accounting procedures for affordable properties using Yardi Property Management Software. This role involves comprehensive bookkeeping, managing accounts payable and receivable, performing bank reconciliations, GL coding, and preparing financial statements. The position also includes undertaking special projects as directed by the Controller and offers the potential for remote work after a successful initial period.

Requirements

• A degree in accounting or a minimum of three years of accounting experience.
• A minimum of six months of Yardi Property Management software experience is preferred.
• Previous accounting experience for affordable housing or subsidies is highly preferred.
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft 365 programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, and TEAMS).
• Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks using strong organizational skills.
• Excellent time management and critical thinking skills to solve problems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-directed with high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Review/audit monthly bank reconciliations.
• Record monthly adjusting and accrual entries.
• Monitor cash balances and accounts to prevent overdrafts.
• Prepare monthly financial statements with supporting documents for clients.
• Monitor accounts for errors and correct them accordingly.
• Assist in daily, monthly, and annual audits.
• Record or audit invoices accurately and timely.
• Process final accounting for residents/tenants who move out.
• Monitor tenant accounts for overages/shortages and past-due amounts, sending out notices as needed.
• Process payables, ensuring correct coding.
• Write and send checks consistently.
