About The Position

The Property Maintenance Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment, buildings, and machines. Tasks include but are not limited to plumbing work, painting, flooring repair and upkeep, electrical repairs, heating, and air conditioning system maintenance. The Property Maintenance Technician will perform manual labor and general repairs as needed for all businesses and properties of TREDC on an as needed basis.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. with 4-6 years maintenance experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have 4-6 years work-related experience and be able to accomplish all projects without assistance or direct supervision.
  • Must have a valid California Driver’s License and be insurable through TREDC insurance company.
  • Must successfully complete and pass background investigation.
  • Must successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screen.
  • Must be available for on-call assignments.
  • Must be able to maintain regular attendance.
  • Must have acceptable work history if previously employed with the Tule River Tribe and/or Tribal Entities.
  • Willing to work holidays and weekends, if needed.
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to disassemble machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
  • Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
  • Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices.
  • Knowledge of basic math (add, subtract, multiply, and divide).
  • Ability to read and write common vocabulary.
  • May be required to work in poor weather conditions.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Able to effectively establish priorities and meet deadlines assigned by a supervisor.
  • Exceptional detail and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to operate forklift, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs physical manual labor and repair duties as needed.
  • May perform various custodial duties if necessary.
  • Maintains a clean job site. Accounts for all tools and equipment and secures job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards and theft. Maintains inventory or all tools and equipment.
  • Works safely around equipment.
  • Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
  • Must utilize all safety equipment and proper clothing required for each job being performed.
  • Material handling and storage.
  • Loads and unloads trucks and haul and hoist materials.
  • General maintenance of buildings and equipment. Responsible for vehicle maintenance.
  • General repair and maintenance to include, but not limited to construction, electrical, plumbing, painting, patching, carpentry, windows, locks, doors, clogged drains, plaster/drywall, and cement.
  • Attends training as needed.
  • Complete daily work forms, receive and complete all maintenance requests with effective communication and updates. Record keeping and retention.
  • Conducts regular safety inspections to identify faulty equipment and perform repairs.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential and relaying all relevant information and project progress to TREDC’s Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Perform a variety of tasks, which may include any sprinkler installation and installation of mortar less segmental concrete masonry wall units, HVAC, installations, upgrades, and working with outside vendors.
  • Assists with quarterly safety meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Follow OSHA and safety guidelines.
  • Respond urgently to all requests, emergencies, power outages, flooding and all other disasters.
