About The Position

The Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of apartment maintenance staff. This position is responsible for assisting in the repair, upkeep, and maintenance of apartment complexes and residential homes throughout the metro-wide area. The role requires regular driving of a personal or company vehicle. The maintenance staff will complete service requests, perform general maintenance, assist with tenant inspections, conduct maintenance walk-throughs, catalogue maintenance requests, and communicate with tenants and staff regarding repairs. The position emphasizes teamwork, communication, and a proactive maintenance approach to ensure a positive living experience for Veterans.

Requirements

  • Valid MN Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work after or off-hours as needed.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of apartment complex maintenance or handyperson experience.
  • Experience preparing units for section 8 inspections.
  • HQS certification or Lead paint certification.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player with the ability to function independently.
  • Veteran or knowledge of veteran issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all service requests at the direction of the Operations or Property Manager.
  • Perform general maintenance at MACV-owned apartment complexes and assist with residential homes as needed.
  • Assist with tenant move-out and move-in inspections, identifying maintenance issues.
  • Conduct quarterly maintenance walk-throughs in all units.
  • Catalogue maintenance requests from tenants and coordinate repairs cost-effectively.
  • Meet vendors/contractors for routine and emergency service appointments.
  • Document all property maintenance actions into Salesforce.
  • Review security camera footage for safety concerns and health issues.
  • Communicate daily with service care teams and residential services coordinators.
  • Interact with tenants via text, email, and phone.
  • Troubleshoot and solve various maintenance issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of apartments for occupancy.
  • Keep the grounds free of debris and trash.
  • Provide excellent customer service to residents.
  • Resolve electrical, plumbing, and appliance repairs and installations.
  • Perform minor carpentry repairs, painting, and drywall repair.
  • Clear drains and sewer lines up to 4'.
