About The Position

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Property Maintenance Specialist I - Custodian position. This position is Monday - Friday on day shift (6:00am-2:30pm or 7:00am-3:30pm) and the starting wage is $20.00 per hour. As a Property Maintenance Specialist I, a typical day might include the following: With close guidance, perform daily custodial maintenance duties of basic complexity including but not limited to sweeping, dusting, scrubbing, mopping, trash removal and appropriate response to requests as needed. Buff, polish, scrub, strip and refinish hard-surface floors using heavy equipment. Assist with grounds keeping, personnel moves, and routine deliveries and stocking as directed. Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; perform routine maintenance as required. Follow and continuously improve workplace safety, environmental practices, area processes, and waste reduction opportunities.

Requirements

  • Have a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Are able to operate custodial related equipment and use applicable chemicals, supplies, hand, and power tools with guidance.
  • Have previous experience as a floor care technician or in related role preferred.
  • Are able to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Are able to work various shifts, hours, and days depending on workload.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to perform basic repairs including carpentry, painting, and equipment installation.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently complete tasks and projects.
