About The Position

The Hazard Insurance Claims Specialist will be responsible for filing insurance claims on vacant, damaged homes in active foreclosure to reduce Pennymac's financial loss. As the Claims Specialist, you must be able to identify insurable damage and negotiate claim settlement with the insurance carrier while ensuring compliance with investor guidelines.

Requirements

• Knowledge of insurance policy content and/or details of real estate, housing and construction.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and related technology.
• Insurance Services and mortgage industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage the incoming high volume of inspection reports and photos, on a daily basis and established timelines, from multiple property preservation service providers to identify insurable losses and date of loss occurrence.
• Collect and present supporting mortgage documents to the insurer on damaged CONV, VA, USDA and FHA loans, such as origination and foreclosure documents, payoff statements, and change in risk letters.
• Generate work orders with property preservation service providers during the claim process in order to induce meet and greets, estimates of damage, as well as police and/or fire reports.
• Provide timely response to inquiries by internal and external clients and property preservation service providers.
• Audit all resolved claims to ensure the claim was settled fairly and accurately after a review of vendor invoices, adjuster's estimates, insurance affidavits and/or recoverable depreciation deadline to determine if a supplemental claim is needed.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
