The Property Disposal Specialist provides assistance to the Department of Defense (DOD), Federal Agencies, and authorized donor customers in screening and selecting property for reutilization. This role involves performing a variety of property disposal, control, and advisory activities, including advising on the destruction, demilitarization, or abandonment of property, and recognizing demilitarization property and its applicable requirements. The specialist ensures that contractors complete all work on the task order and notifies the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) if performance is not satisfactory, recommending remedial action as necessary. Additionally, the specialist resolves various conventional problems related to the disposal of excess and surplus government property, maintains accountable records, and ensures proper handling and storage of property to prevent damage or loss. The role also includes assisting in the coordination and training aspects of the property disposal function.
