About The Position

LINK Real Estate Group is seeking a strategic and hands-on Portfolio Controller to serve as the financial cornerstone of our growing multifamily apartment portfolio. This is a high-impact leadership role that goes beyond traditional accounting. The Portfolio Controller ensures the integrity of property-level financials, drives strategic budgeting, and delivers high-level financial analysis to ownership. As the essential bridge between site operations and executive finance, this role aligns multi-site financial performance with the company’s long-term growth objectives. Position Overview The Portfolio Controller provides financial leadership across the multifamily portfolio. This role oversees reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, internal controls, and audit coordination while leading and developing a high-performing accounting team. The ideal candidate is strategic, detail-oriented, technically strong, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of professional accounting experience, with at least 3 years in multifamily or apartment management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of GAAP and property-level tax requirements.
  • High proficiency in multifamily accounting software such as Yardi, RealPage, or Entrata, with strong preference for Entrata experience.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and data manipulation.
  • Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for leadership.
  • Strong ability to present financial results clearly and confidently to both internal executives and external property owners.
  • Proven experience building and leading accounting teams.
  • High initiative and a strong sense of ownership over the portfolio’s financial health.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities as the portfolio continues to grow.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the property accounting function. Serve as a key financial partner to internal leadership and external ownership groups.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for property owners. Lead the month-end close process and review variance analyses to ensure accuracy and transparency.
  • Collaborate with company leadership to drive the annual property budgeting process. Monitor financial performance against budget targets, analyze variances, and execute strategic re-forecasting to adapt to operational shifts.
  • Oversee portfolio-wide cash flow, including short and long-term forecasts, owner distributions, capital reserve funding, and debt service requirements.
  • Serve as the primary financial liaison with property owners and external accounting professionals. Facilitate year-end audits and ensure the timely submission of all required tax filings.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine accounting procedures across all sites to improve operational efficiency, leverage software capabilities, and maintain strict GAAP compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor robust internal controls to safeguard company assets, mitigate financial risk, and ensure data integrity across the portfolio.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team. Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
