About The Position

The Property Claims Field Trainee position at Mercury Insurance Services is designed for individuals passionate about helping others restore their lives after unexpected events affecting their homes. This entry-level role involves completing a formal training program that prepares candidates to transition into property claims field adjusting positions. Trainees will learn to investigate, evaluate, and settle homeowner property claims while providing exceptional customer service. The role includes field inspections, virtual collaboration, and effective communication with insureds and vendors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain state-specific property claims licensing as required.
  • Prior experience using estimating software like Xactimate is preferred.
  • Experience in property claims, customer service, construction, or restoration is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and video collaboration technology.
  • Ability to learn quickly and grasp new concepts in a classroom setting.
  • Strong mathematical skills to compute damage and repair costs.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Prior military experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully participate and complete the formal property claims training program.
  • Investigate and resolve Homeowners claims of minor to moderate complexity in a timely manner.
  • Document claims with photographs, measurements, and recorded interviews as needed.
  • Write repair estimates to capture damages and complete thorough file notes.
  • Perform field inspections at least 50% of the work time using a company car.
  • Use advanced video technology to collaborate with onsite vendors and insureds.
  • Compare facts gathered during investigations to determine origin & cause and coverage of claims.
  • Establish reserve amounts and negotiate settlements within prescribed limits.
  • Communicate effectively and timely with insureds to resolve issues and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Prioritize responsibilities and manage claims workload to monitor progress and expenses.
