What: Oversee property accounting, vendor invoice processing, general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and cash management. Where: Atlanta, GA – onsite role supporting multiple properties. When: Hiring immediately to manage property accounting and reporting functions. Job Summary: The Property Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records for multiple properties, preparing financial statements, supporting audits, and analyzing financial data. This role partners with property management, asset management, and external auditors to ensure compliance and timely reporting. Property Accountant in Atlanta, GA managing property financials, AP/AR, general ledger, reporting, and cash management for multi-family properties.

Requirements

  • BS in Accounting or related degree
  • 2–3 years of property management or real estate accounting experience, multi-family housing preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Attention to detail, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review financial data for accuracy and timeliness
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external reporting guidelines (lender, investors, partners)
  • Review and oversee vendor invoices in accounts payable system
  • Provide guidance to accounts payable staff on general ledger coding and payroll allocation
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and supporting schedules
  • Monitor cash balances and update weekly for accuracy
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements on cash or accrual basis
  • Analyze budget variances, financial statement abnormalities, and provide variance explanations
  • Maintain supporting schedules for fixed assets, insurance, taxes, etc.
  • Assist with year-end audits and documentation
  • Serve as a financial partner to property managers and internal/external stakeholders
