About The Position

Support the preparation of multiple monthly financial statements, including, but not limited to: Prepare weekly bank reconciliations for all cash accounts for all properties assigned and resolve all discrepancies. Prepare ACH transfers and EFT external batches as necessary for weekly activities. Oversight of assigned week check runs affecting the GL intercompany accounts clearing for properties assigned. Prepare monthly standard journal entries, including necessary accruals related to each property to include all supporting schedules (balance sheet and income statement before finalizing the monthly accounting package Reconcile operating and security deposit accounts and other key balance sheet reserves, including property tax and insurance accounts where applicable. Assist in preparation and/or review of monthly variances and analysis (actual to budget). Prepare and review balance sheets and income statements for assigned properties in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) on a monthly and annual basis, adhering to Cash Basis reporting requirements. Review and action any deposits or disbursements that are 30+ days aged in correlation to Escheat / Unclaimed Property reporting efforts to the State. Assist with Escheat / Unclaimed Property items as directed by the Controller. Effectively communicate daily with onsite property personnel to relay financial information discrepancies and issues to be resolved in a timely manner to guarantee the month-end close is timely. Posting of the payroll entries bi-monthly along with associated GL allocations Calculation and posting of SMC management fees to property financial statements monthly. Posting rents and/or other financial processes related to our industry. Serve as vendor relations within accounting to set up new vendor accounts and/ or modify vendor setups to ensure accuracy. Partner with Operations when vendors are out of compliance. Maintain commercial ledgers and monitor payments and accounting related lease activities for an industrial complex. Support acquisitions or lease up of new properties as needed. Assist with annual budget preparation when needed. Calculate business license fees according to property needs and other compliance requirements, such as calculations for unsecured property tax on assigned properties yearly. Participate in accounting department-wide projects to streamline or implement new processes and continuing education offered by the Company or Controller. Assist external CPA in preparation of year-end requests as assigned. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • Strong working and technical knowledge of GAAP standards and methods.
  • Must have working knowledge of computers and various software in general, Windows (Word, Outlook, Excel, Intermediate level pivot tables, VLOOKUP, functions, PowerPoint, PDF Pro)
  • Extremely proficient in general accounting operations and procedures, with working knowledge of accounting GAAP principles and internal controls.
  • Intermediate/Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Office, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP’s.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Strong written/ verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills and presentation abilities with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals across the organization.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Detail-oriented, effective at managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines, ability to prioritize conflicting demands, organize time and resources to deliver solid and consistent results for the business, and bring assignments to successful completion.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Real Estate, Property Management, or related field preferred
  • Yardi Voyager 7S and Yardi Elevate experience preferred.
