About The Position

Our client, a privately owned commercial property management firm based in Prescott, AZ, is seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to support a diverse portfolio of 85 commercial properties totaling approximately 600 units. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced real estate accounting professional who enjoys owning the full accounting cycle across multiple properties. The Property Accountant will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations for a large commercial portfolio, ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely reconciliations, and strong tenant financial communication.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of accounting experience (5+ preferred for senior-level candidates)
  • Commercial real estate experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field — or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Experience managing full-cycle property accounting
  • Strong understanding of CAM reconciliations
  • Ability to manage multiple properties in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Perform CAM reconciliations, including review of chargebacks and credits
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheets and income statements
  • Manage AP/AR for 85 properties (~600 units)
  • Process rent payments
  • Issue tenant statements
  • Respond to tenant inquiries regarding rent and CAM
  • Record and post journal entries
  • Maintain the general ledger for each property
  • Complete bank reconciliations for 85 accounts
  • Reconcile corporate accounting for the property management company
  • Set up tenants, owners, and bank accounts
  • Provide portal access
  • Establish recurring charges
  • Process incoming payments not received through the tenant portal
  • Code and process utility payments
  • Utilize AppFolio (open to candidates with Yardi experience)
