About The Position

The Property Accountant will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions for a portfolio of commercial properties while supporting corporate accounting activities for CMT Properties. This role works closely with the Property Management team, CFO, and CEO to ensure accurate financial reporting, timely reconciliations, and smooth onboarding of new properties. The ideal candidate brings strong MRI accounting experience, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, in-office environment while helping deliver high-quality financial reporting to clients.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with MRI accounting software (required)
  • Prior experience in commercial property accounting preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple properties simultaneously
  • Effective communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Yardi Voyager is a strong plus

Responsibilities

  • Record and manage Accounts Receivable (A/R) for all properties on a monthly basis
  • Oversee invoice processing and payments through AvidPay , with invoices flowing directly into MRI
  • Prepare and post journal entries for items outside the system and monthly accruals
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date balance sheets for each property
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all properties
  • Generate monthly financial statements in MRI, compile reporting packages, and distribute to Property Managers
  • Collaborate closely with the Property Management team to deliver accurate, high-quality financial reports to clients
  • Set up new properties in MRI as assets are added to the portfolio
  • Assist with expense reconciliation setup and maintenance throughout the year to ensure a smooth annual reconciliation process
  • Partner with the CFO to prepare and submit monthly management invoices to each property
  • Process all corporate accounts payable for CMT Properties
  • Ensure employee overtime is properly allocated and billed to the correct properties
  • Collaborate with the CEO on payroll processing
  • Assist the CEO with onboarding new properties , including accounting setup and coordination
