About The Position

The Proofreader, a member of the Copy Team, proofs and edits a wide range of promotional, brand, and business-related content written for a multicultural and multifaceted audience. The Proofreader ensures that all materials are grammatically correct, factually accurate, brand-consistent, and culturally appropriate. The Proofreader will work on a variety of assets—from TV scripts and print ads to correspondence letters and member handbooks—helping to ensure that Healthfirst’s voice is clear, compelling, and consistent across all channels.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • A minimum of four years of proofreading experience in a marketing, communications, or creative agency setting.
  • A strong command of grammar, spelling, punctuation, vocabulary, and editorial best practices.
  • Proficient time-management skills to meet high volumes of work and tight deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of AP and Chicago styles.
  • Organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Experience proofing content tailored to diverse, multicultural audiences and professionals.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) or digital project management tools and platforms.
  • Employment in regulated industries such as health insurance, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or finance.

Responsibilities

  • Proof and edit marketing materials and business correspondence—brochures, flyers, ads, direct mail, radio and TV scripts, handbooks, guides, emails, letters, and more—for clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Use proprietary content tools to work with legal disclaimers, citations, signatures, compliance language, and more.
  • Ensure content aligns with Healthfirst's brand standards, voice, style guidelines, and reading-level requirements.
  • Collaborate with marketers, designers, copywriters, editors, project managers, and health insurance professionals across the enterprise to ensure timely delivery of high-quality content.
  • Meet deadlines, maintain version control, and manage feedback implementation in a fast-paced environment.
  • Cover for other proofreaders as needed.
  • Support additional copy tasks or quality assurance projects as needed.
