About The Position

The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University is welcoming applications for the position of Projections/Media Engineer. CATF, a LORT D summer festival and leading producer of contemporary plays, is dedicated to telling diverse stories and developing new American theater. The festival premieres or produces multiple plays per season in 3 venues. CATF is committed to supporting the unique needs of new work while fostering an environment of fun and company community. Located 90 minutes from DC, CATF makes its home in one of America's coolest small towns, Shepherdstown, WV. The Video/Media Engineer will typically work with the Projections Designer in one venue to implement their vision for the production, potentially incorporating a mixture of playback and live sources. The Engineer may work alongside other engineers and will also be responsible for supervising a Projections/Media Intern who will assist with system setup and then serve as a operator during performances. Applicants should have experience working in flexible spaces with temporary projection systems and should be comfortable with basic theatrical rigging and working at heights over 20 feet (in lifts, ladders, or catwalks). Experience with Qlab, basic projector setup, and computer networking is required. Experience with crew management, equipment purchase and/or rental specification, and NDI video transport and/or live streaming is preferred. Position is seasonal, from May 30 thru July 12, although an extension through early August may be available. All staff and interns are provided free air-conditioned housing within walking distance of the theaters and workspaces (also air conditioned,) 1-2 meals per day during tech, and free use of university gym, pool, and laundry facilities. Requirements
