About the position

A Project Superintendent is a company representative with the primary responsibility of managing the overall construction process on a project. They are responsible for ensuring that their projects are in full compliance with corporate and industry standards as they relate to safety, quality, and personal. The Superintendent is accountable for schedule adherence, proper construction practices, project budget, minimizing risk, and maintaining a proper flow of work. They represent the principles and workmanship of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising all direct responsibilities of the Assistant Superintendent, Foreman, and craft labor.
  • Supervising the project's construction process.
  • Supervising BLHI self-performed work.
  • Supervising the coordination of material deliveries.
  • Supervising jobsite safety enforcement.
  • Supervising the projects logistics.
  • Staffing project craft labor.
  • Managing the procurement of materials.
  • Schedule development, management, and reporting.
  • Project progress, quantity and productivity reporting.
  • Aid the Project Manager in cost control and reporting.
  • Aid the Project Manager in job photos and progress documentation.
  • Enforcing risk management parameters established by Project Executive.
  • Employee development for both Assistant Superintendents and Craft.
  • Projects technical advisor.
  • Aid in the planning of a project during the pre-construction phase.
  • Aid in dispute resolution.

Requirements

  • High School Education with On the Job Training.
  • Trade School.
  • 2-year degree in a relevant curriculum from an accredited college or university.
  • 4-year degree in a relevant curriculum from an accredited college or university.
  • Trade Certification/Accreditation.
  • Journeyman Card.
  • Skills Training.
  • Competent Persons Safety Training.
  • Industry Training.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook.
  • Knowledge in Primavera P6 (or similar scheduling software/application).
  • Working knowledge of Plan Grid, Blue Beam, and submittal software.
  • Mastery of building components and their installation.
  • Mastery of construction tasks, scheduling and trade sequencing.
  • Mastery of construction surveying/layout.
  • Mastery of construction documents.
  • Working knowledge in building codes, industry standards, and building requirements.
  • Working knowledge in each trades scope of work.
  • Working knowledge of contract language.
  • Basic understanding of risk management.
  • Acquire relevant industry accreditation or certification (LEED, Lean, PMP, HCC, CCM, etc.).
