About The Position

The Project Superintendent will be responsible for directing and managing McCarthy's labor force to achieve optimum performance on construction projects in San Jose, CA. This role involves close communication with the project manager to promptly resolve any issues that arise, as well as chairing weekly subcontractor coordination meetings. The Project Superintendent will assist the Project Manager in developing the Chart of Accounts, a detailed CPM Schedule, and a Detailed Scope of Work. Additionally, they will develop a project site logistics plan and maintain a thorough understanding of contract documents. The role also includes reviewing material and equipment budgets, negotiating purchase orders and rental rates, monitoring project costs, and providing leadership in quality and safety processes. Daily documentation of construction activities, issuing and maintaining short-term schedules, and assisting Project Engineers with the Shop Drawing and Submittal process are also key responsibilities. The Project Superintendent will verify that As-Built drawings are kept current and assist Estimating in bidding opportunities and Preconstruction services. Implementing all applicable Safety Programs and EEO/Affirmative Action Programs is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering, and/or 7-10 years of applicable field leadership experience
  • Experience with relevant large scale commercial, healthcare, education or industrial projects
  • Extensive experience directing and coordinating trades
  • Strong working relationships with subcontractors, architect and owners
  • Knowledge of construction principles/practices required
  • Self-perform construction management experience highly preferred
  • Previous experience working with the Project Management team to ensure a successful completion
  • Excellent organizational, team management, problem solving, motivational skills.

Responsibilities

Benefits

  • Salary range of $125,000 - $165,000
