About The Position

Melrose/Wakefield Hospital is looking for a Project Worker to join their Environmental Services team. This position is responsible for performing a variety of housekeeping and administrative tasks, assisting in the supervision of housekeeping employees in the absence of the supervisor, and ensuring a clean, safe environment. The role includes coordinating daily tasks among frontline employees, conducting room inspections, managing scheduled floor care, and maintaining inter-department customer relations. The Project Worker will also cover shift positions when necessary and perform various other tasks as assigned by the Environmental Services department.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Completes weekly projects as designated by the supervisor.
  • Coordinates all project work assigned by management for shifts and communicates progress with other shift leads.
  • Reports any equipment problems to the supervisor.
  • Ensures employees are properly equipped and supplied with necessary items to complete their tasks.
  • Follows proper procedures concerning infection control, chemical control, and hazardous waste disposal.
  • Follows proper work safety practices and body mechanics.
  • Performs beginning and end of shift check-in and rounds through the facility.
  • Operates heavy duty electrical equipment such as wet vacuums, extractors, buffers, and floor machines.
  • Participates in accurate inventory and record keeping concerning laundry services.
  • Performs other duties as required, including cleaning linen areas and washing/drying mops and rags.
  • Sets up furniture and distributes audio-visual equipment for functions.
  • Completes competency assessments and answers questions concerning policies and procedures.
  • Works in open positions to assure adequate coverage.
  • Allocates resources to provide coverage throughout the facility.
  • Conducts quality insurance inspections and ensures corrective actions are taken.
  • Coordinates and executes small furniture moves and room setups.
  • Conducts monthly employee safety committee meetings and department safety inspections.
  • Maintains composure and professionalism during difficult situations.
