About The Position

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Project Services Designer to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Cablofil Team in Mascoutah, IL. The role of the project services team is to manage technical projects, maintain technical documents and provide technical support.

Requirements

  • Education: Associates degree in a technical field or related equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Solid understanding of commercial electrical construction techniques, design/engineering concepts, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Must be able to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to practical problems.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software, e-mail, and meeting management software.
  • Ability to use internet and web-based resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Proficient in the use of 2D/3D CAD software.
  • Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team-based environment.
  • Fosters open communication and support an environment of innovation and creative change.
  • Demonstrated creativity in the development of new product design concepts.
  • Ability to create sketches, 2D/3D files, and prototype designs to express all the different options that are used to satisfy product requirements.
  • Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities.
  • Must possess project management skills, including demonstrated ability to develop and manage to a project plan, establish priorities, work to deadlines, and control several projects at various stages of work.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Must be an effective listener, able to extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand customer’s needs and identify new ways to serve/satisfy customer.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience: Preferred 3 years experience, design or estimating experience preferred.
  • SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred.
  • Estimating software experience, a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Cable Tray Takeoffs.
  • Respond to customer request for detailed takeoffs for electrical construction projects.
  • Develop bill of materials for sales team and interface with customer and sales team with questions and suggestions.
  • Custom Product Design.
  • Work directly with end users or in coordination with EWS sales team to understand non-standard customer needs (typically project based).
  • Modify standard product offering to quickly and cost effectively meet the customer needs.
  • Provide detailed submittal drawings for projects utilizing non-standard products.
  • Support Sales Team with Technical Assistance.
  • Monitor Tech Support phone line and email.
  • Manage Large and Complex Projects.
  • Develop and Maintain Technical Drawing Library.
  • Develop and Maintain Technical Document Library.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required.
