Weston is seeking a Project Scientist for EPA Region 6 to support investigations and remediation of hazardous waste sites to protect public health and the environment. Project Scientists lead and execute technical tasks, ensuring scope, budget, and schedule adherence from start to finish. They serve as field leaders or manage complex scopes under the direction of a Project Manager, contributing to multidisciplinary teams across multiple projects in field, office, or remote settings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Natural Science or related field; 6+ years of experience
  • Proficient in technical discipline and Microsoft Office
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Capable of leading teams and collaborating effectively
  • Willingness to travel (1 day to 3 weeks) and work in outdoor/remediation sites
  • Physically able to walk varied terrain, climb ladders, work at elevation, lift 40 lbs, and stand for extended periods
  • Membership in a relevant professional organization encouraged
  • For HTRW/Chemical fields: must meet PPE requirements

Responsibilities

  • Lead sampling and analytical activities; coordinate field teams and subcontractors
  • Oversee field operations, data collection, QA/QC, and reporting
  • Ensure proper sampling techniques and validate team outputs
  • Research and analyze scientific data, compile and correlate findings
  • Prepare clear, accurate reports using biometrics and statistical analysis
  • Maintain effective communication with PMs and clients; present findings as needed
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to the practice group knowledge sharing
