The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Geochemistry, Cosmochemistry or related fields. The candidate must have direct experience with SIMS. The person hired will conduct a research program that focuses on the formation and evolution of the Solar System through the high-precision isotopic analysis of extraterrestrial materials. Using secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS), the candidate will examine solar, meteoritic, asteroidal, cometary, and lunar samples to decode the physical and chemical processes that shaped our planetary system. In addition to performing measurements in the laboratory, the candidate will also be responsible for managing a multi-year, NASA-supported analytical facility established to provide the planetary science community with advanced capabilities for isotopic analysis across the periodic table, thereby fostering collaborative and cutting-edge cosmochemical research.
