The Project Scientist (1 year contract at Project Scientist, Step 5 with 78% effort) will be a research scientist in the laboratory of Dr. Petrovic. The position involves the planning and execution of a range of biochemical and cell biology experiments relating to the mammalian tight junction architecture, and the training of postdoctoral, graduate, and undergraduate students on the methods and analyses used in the research group. The Project Scientist must have experience with molecular cloning, protein expression, protein purification, biophysical characterization of protein-protein interactions. The Project Scientist must be able to rapidly acquire knowledge in X-ray crystallography and cryogenic electron microscopy as well as the full gamut of biochemistry/molecular biology and cell culture techniques. They will work independently in designing experiments and determining laboratory priorities, and be a partner with the PI in writing research proposals, reports, and manuscripts.
