About The Position

Applications are sought for a full-time Assistant Project Scientist position, with a focus on gene regulation research. The successful candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary research team in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Carey in the UCLA Department of Biological Chemistry. The Carey Lab investigates gene regulation mechanisms through elucidating 3D genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic dynamics utilizing CRISPR-Cas edited mouse embryonic stem cell models. The Carey Lab integrates cutting-edge CRISPR-Cas edited degron cell lines with multi-omics technologies such as RNA-Seq, ATAC-Seq, ChIP-Seq and promoter-capture Hi-C to investigate gene regulation mechanisms mediated by promoter-enhancer looping driven by gene-specific transcription factors. The ideal candidate will be interested in leading projects in the gene regulation field and possess expertise in both experimental and computational analysis. Projects may involve but are not limited to mammalian cell culture, siRNA interference, NGS library construction, and integrative multi-omics data analysis. Experience in next-generation sequencing library preparation and multi-omics analysis is required. Proficiency in shell scripting, Python, and R is expected.
