Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, plus five years of professional accounting experience, including at least two years in a managerial or supervisory capacity
At least two years of Grant Accounting experience

Responsibilities

Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and university regulations
Reviews general ledger and subsidiary account reports for errors or inconsistencies; Interprets data and points out trends or deviations from standards; Decides proper handling of financial transactions; Investigates and corrects problems
Allocates funds for new and existing accounts when establishing and maintaining the general ledger on department operations
Evaluates current and future data processing needs related to quality control and reporting procedures
Review and approve all journal entries, monthly and quarterly reconciliations, and other statutory reports
Manages and completes month-end and fiscal year-end closing procedures
Prepares organizational Financial Statements to be submitted to the University of Arkansas Systems office
Manages preparation of organizational Notes to Financial Statements to be submitted to the University of Arkansas Systems office
Prepares organizational Closing Book Notes for Financial Statements to be submitted to the State of Arkansas Comprehensive Financial Report (CAFR) office
Provide general ledger documentation to various internal and external auditors; Implement new and revise existing General Ledger policies and procedures according to audit findings or recommendations
Participate in and take the initiative to increase the use of information technology to improve the overall productivity and quality of output in the department
Model and enforce compliance with the Division of Finance and Administration’s Code of Ethics
