About The Position

Responsible for all aspects of Used Nuclear Fuel (UNF) project management which includes planning, executing and providing schedule and cost updates on all assigned projects. The position requires integration and communication between several organizations, management, projects, company(s) or vendors to coordinate and execute a project. This role will be assigned responsibilities as Control Account Manager or Work Package Manager on one or multiple projects. This position is responsible for planning the projects from beginning to end, including but not limited to: Project scope definition. Ensure scope is approved in contract and implemented in current Task Order. Work with Project Controls to develop project schedule. Work with Estimating to develop project cost estimate. Identify resources, costs, assumptions, exclusions, and risks for each project. Assist in the selection and coordination of the project team. Plan and manage project execution phase.  This individual is also responsible for: Coordinate the development of required safety authorization basis changes. Coordinate all aspects of a facility modification.  Coordinate the design and fabrication of tools and equipment. Work with operations on the development or revision of procedures. Coordinate training and equipment dry runs.  Coordinate and track readiness review development and completion. Work with operations to schedule loading/unloading and storage of the UNF as applicable. Follow project closeout process for the disposition of equipment and records. This position also requires a person who has the ability to: Apply and develop advanced concepts and techniques. Develop solutions to complex problems and provide solutions which require a high degree of ingenuity and innovativeness by applying new and unique approaches. Provide leadership and consultation to co-workers. Evaluate progress and results and recommend major changes to project activities. Act independently to uncover and resolve problems. Act as a spokesperson to customer in area of expertise.   Ensure they directly contribute to achieving company objectives and milestones through successful project completion.

Requirements

  • Applicable bachelor’s degree plus 7 years’ directly relevant experience.
  • Experience leading work activities in compliance with DOE Orders, Federal, State, and Local regulations (where applicable), and Work for Other’s (WFO) contracts.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with DOE customer and other federal agencies.
  • Must have strong communication and leadership skills.
  • DOE Security Clearance or ability to obtain a clearance.
  • Knowledge of project management, project control systems, and project and systems planning.
  • Experience in leading and working in an integrated project team.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interface with program managers, middle and upper management, as well as DOE Idaho and Headquarters customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in engineering with a strong knowledge of construction principles.
  • Experience with other DOE programs, including environmental, waste cleanup, and safety preferred.
  • PMP Certification (optional).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall management of existing or new UNF projects

  • Coordinate and manage project activities to occur on time or ahead of schedule and bring project in under budget
  • Developing and conducting UNF presentations for tours or conferences
  • Conduct, schedule, and project risk reviews with DOE-ID and applicable organizations
  • Support miscellaneous programs, and reporting requests from internal organizations, DOE Idaho or DOE Headquarters, and the State of Idaho
  • Work planning, budgeting, and scheduling
  • Defining and setting up project milestones
  • Reviewing critical path, performing analysis, and tracking of project health
  • Perform weekly project status updates
  • Review and approve purchase requisitions
  • Analyze actuals to remaining budget
  • Develop monthly variance reports to explain project cost and schedule status
