Manufacturing Engineers at Lutron participate within a cross-functional team to conceptualize, design, and develop innovative, high-quality consumer products and services for commercial and residential use. There are a variety of technical areas throughout the product lifecycle that you could encounter from day one, such as: Assembly process development and optimization, including time studies, production line balancing, and pareto/defect analysis Development and effective documentation of standard work procedures and product manufacturing process notebooks Specification of requirements for tooling and work stations Application of Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DfM and DfA) principles, and how to provide effective feedback to product design teams throughout design cycle Project management skills, particularly as related to coordinating logistics and efforts between engineering, operations, and manufacturing plant Industry standard techniques and best practices for manufacturing quality improvement, such as Six Sigma.
