About The Position

The Utility Project Manager - Northeast at AtkinsRéalis is responsible for overseeing electrical utility capital projects, including substation upgrades, transmission line upgrades, hydro projects, Smart Grids, and environmental compliance work. This role focuses on managing project delivery services while also engaging in internal business operations such as business development and financial management. The position requires significant independent responsibility for project assignments, ensuring effective communication and management of project stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in utility project management.
  • Bachelor's degree; Engineering or MBA preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification from PMI.
  • Thorough understanding of Project Management, Building Design & Construction, Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling, Building Cost Modelling, and Risk Analysis.
  • General understanding of Primavera, Expedition/Prolong, or similar software.
  • Proficient in AtkinsRéalis proprietary Epoch and CATO software.
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong decision-making abilities and analytical problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineering license (optional).
  • Experience with project legal documents.

Responsibilities

  • Provide management and daily leadership for the project team.
  • Act as the primary daily point of contact to clients, contractors, and consultants at the project level.
  • Create and execute project execution plans, revising as necessary to meet changing needs.
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects and AtkinsRéalis scope of services.
  • Promote effective communication among all project stakeholders.
  • Implement management systems supporting the project, including quality assurance and risk management.
  • Identify resources needed and assign individual responsibilities.
  • Review deliverables prepared by the team before passing to clients.
  • Prepare for project reviews and quality assurance procedures.
  • Minimize AtkinsRéalis' exposure and risk on projects.
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Track and report team hours and expenses weekly.
  • Support the manager in providing regular forecast and expense updates to project budgets.
  • Manage and review consultant invoices on behalf of the client.
  • Follow up with clients and consultants regarding unpaid invoices.
  • Support the manager in developing project accounting forecasts and summaries.
  • Review the Project Status Report (PSR) and general financial reporting for client cost reports.
  • Pursue the execution and filing of project legal documents.
