About The Position

The Water Services Department is seeking up to two experienced professionals to manage critical infrastructure projects and programs. These roles support both water and wastewater utilities, including the development and rehabilitation of pipelines (24" to 108" diameter), booster pump stations, steel tanks, concrete reservoirs, pressure reducing valve stations, and water production and ASR wells. Wastewater responsibilities may include sewer main and manhole assessments, as well as force main and lift station rehabilitation and replacement.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in civil engineering, architecture, or a related field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in water/wastewater engineering design, plan review, inspection, construction, or project management preferred
  • 2 years of experience managing consultants and contractor staff for Capital Improvement - Projects or large-scale private industry projects preferred
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles and construction practices related to municipal water infrastructure
  • Experience with construction methods, materials, and project delivery in the public sector
  • Experience developing scopes of work, reviewing proposals and payment applications, and overseeing permitting and design/construction documentation
  • Candidates must be local at the time of submission and available for in-person interviews
  • Candidates must be able to start within two weeks of receiving an offer

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline preferred
  • Current Arizona Professional Engineer registration is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage Capital Improvement Program (CIP) replacement and rehabilitation projects at various facilities and in the right-of-way
  • Lead planning, design, and construction phases of projects
  • Develop project scopes and cost estimates
  • Support long-range planning efforts
  • Procure and administer construction contracts
  • Conduct technical reviews of design plans and specifications
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, operational staff, and other departments
  • Integrate final construction documents into Work and Asset Management systems
